Showgirls - Sometimes a film that's meant to be sexy just isn't. On the surface, Showgirls has got all the ingredients for a real trouser - stirrer but, somehow, Paul Verhoeven's Las Vegas stri**er flick is tacky when it should be arousing, and funny when it should be raunchy, so much so that it's become a kitsch classic. Particularly OTT is the swimming pool sex between Elizabeth Berkeley and Kyle Maclachlan - he wears a look of furious concentration, she thrashes around like a woman possessed.
